The big picture
Amelia
Lee, 10, and Chelsea Young, 9, add their own flourishes to the annual,
weeklong mural project at Dunbar School. When completed, this year’s
panel, called “Explore and Discover,” becomes an interactive teaching
tool about water in nature, explained art coordinator Beth Bierman.
Mendocino artist Janet Self oversaw this fourth annual project,
in which each and every Dunbar student takes part. The project is
underwritten by the Sonoma Plein Air Foundation. This is a FLOCKworks project, fostering community through creativity.
Covered in paint, these are end of the day hands (not actually mine but ...) So imagine the delight of my week painting a mural with all 200 children (k-5) at Dunbar School in Glen Ellen, Sonoma County. Everyone one does a little, adding their special part and it certainly adds up! Can't wait to share photos of the project!
